Wonder: I encounter some friends explained to me why they do not like to be a Christian. I told it is between heaven and hell, I was going to hell and God saves and gives me a chance to repent. 

One of the common reason they give me is "whatever wrongdoings you committed, you are forgiven; it is sarcastic". Yes, it is sarcastic in a sense that His love is unconditional. He loves me even I am worthless, but in His eye, I am his most previous creature He ever created. 

I can't ever fathom His deed  until the day I meet my creator personally.

Wonder: Grace of God is not meant to elevate our life standard. Social
is instilling concept of having bungalow, luxury car, money as success in life. God is able to create something out of nothing. His grace is sufficient for all of us, beyond our need so that we have plenty left over to share to the needy.

Wonder: What's GOD invention on human (at this century) which can last for 60 years without any maintenance? Yes, it is our heart. God design it to work more than thousand year such as Adam lived 970 years!

Wonder: The LORD does not only restore your physical health, HE cares for our heart's deepest wound. HE heals the wound so that we may revel in HIS marvelous, gracious and amazing love.

Wonder of the Day - the Lord will watch over you

Wonder: The LORD will watch over you no matter what background, race, beliefs, etc you are from. This morning, I saw an accident happened on the way sending my wife to clinic. Involved three motorcyclists, all were lying on the road; but not a fatal accident.

I thank the LORD that none of them is dead. Any situation can goes worse, but LORD is always there to watch over our life, protect us from the worst. Even the worst, LORD is still watching my life, which is in HIS hand.

Nikon D7000 AF capability

This is the test I was planning since Feb, sorry for myself for not realizing this until today.

Nikon D7000 has 6 type of AF-area mode, with the selections of Auto, 1, 9, 21, 39 and 3D.

Most of the time, this AF selection is to be selected based on the scene which you engage. If you are shooting sport, wildlife, or fast moving object, by opting correct AF determine your image quality. You do not want to bring bunch of photos back and realized all are blurry!

Let's get on. In Live View/Movie AF, the selections are Face Priority, Wide-area, Normal-area and Subject-Tracking. In this blog, I've tried both viewfinder and live view for image sharpness. I would say the image is sharper when capturing in viewfinder.

This is my setting for all these images: Aperture mode, ISO800, f/5.6, a3: focus tracking with Lock-on at Normal(*), Spot metering, no flash.

Capture by lock-on the focus on the subject and hand-panning the camera.

Captured by both subject and camera steady.

Can you see the difference? The 1st image appears blurry on the wordings.

Come on, this is how I do it. In viewfinder, half press the shutter and it will lock the subject, when I keep panning the camera, the AF will track the subject and focus it. See below video:

Can you notice the sharpness, the 1st image is sharper, but the 2nd is not bad too.

Ok, let's try out the Live View/Movie AF, half press the shutter to focus on the subject and press OK button to lock-on the subject. By press again the OK button, it will reset the focus point/subject tracking. I find both AF-S or AF-F gives quite satisfactory subject tracking. I used timer for shutter release.

The image shot in Live View seems blurry compare with the shots in viewfinder.

So, if your subject is moving quite fast, please use viewfinder to get as sharpest possible image.

Actually, there are some recommendation from me on how to improve the sharpness when capturing moving subject.

1. If the subject is moving in back and front direction, use higher f-number to get more depth of field.
2. If the subject is moving in left and right direction, use higher shutter speed (S mode) to freeze the motion.
3. Use flash or bump up the ISO (at your own risk).
4. OFF (*) the a3 (Focus Tracking with Lock-on) so that whenever there is movement of the subject, the camera will adjust focus immediately. The options allow you to determine how fast you prefer the camera to adjust the focus tracking.

Nikon Picture Control System (PCS) Part 1

Today, heard some of my colleagues discussing about picture of cxxxx look more interesting and attractive compared to Nikon.

I am totally disagree and in this blog, I would like to explain the basic tuning of the powerful SPC from all Nikon dSLR.

Nikon PCS has total of 6 type of picture controls:- Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Potrair, Landscape and Monochrome. In each PC, you can tune up to 5 parameters:- Sharpnening, Contrast, Brightness, Saturation and Hue.

You know best of what kind of feel of picture to be given to viewer, it affects the viewer's emotion as well.

 Look at the grid below to understand what is the default setting for each picture control on the contrast and saturation. You may create up to 9 customize picture control at your own preference.

For example, I took this photo with STANDARD

By choosing VIVID and tune the contrast and saturation by +3, the same picture give total different feel. Seems attractive huh??

Let's look at another example, I took this with STANDARD.

If I chose VIVID and tune the contrast and saturation by +3, here how it looks,

Looks more lively?? But in fact, it losses lot of details!!

The dark area totally blown out! No detail!

Believe it or not? The size for STANDARD is 1.22MB while the VIVID is 1.35MB!! Increases by 10% more!! Which means you actually need more space to get NO/LESSER detail... sigh!

Visit to Nikon PJ

Amy and I paid a visit to Nikon PJ to fine tune the AF assembly. From my previous post, my D7k had a back-focus issue and now solved!!

Nikon D7000 continuous burst (6fps) with SB-700

Tonight, decided to put D7000 for highest continuous burst with SB-700. It is useful if I want to shoot actions in low light situation.

I set the image quality to fine and basic. While the shooting mode is continuous high (CH). This video, i recorded with my compact camera (Olympus u1030), the burst captured 20 pics! I believe it can go up to 30 frames (or more) before slowing down.

I am yet to test out the autofocus capability in real scene. Looking forward with it!!

By the time I got my D7000, I was awaiting the newly announced SB-700. Three days ago, I just got it and it is so nice to have it. It is big leap for this budget speedlight with many upgrades from its "brother" SB-600.

Cornerstone, stumblingstone or living stone?

 As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone, and, “A stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.

I been brought up to follow the rules-Do's and Don'ts. In school time, we will be punished if we break the rules and 99% of the rules & regulations are written such as: no talking while teacher in the class, no loitering around, no smoking, bla bla, you name it.

When I entered university, the rules get loosen: ...sigh, I can't even remember was there any rules to follow. We can smoke, skip class, copy assignments; as long as we pay our semester fee (and legally sounds), we will stay until we get our degree. I got more and more freedom. The freedom that I never experience before. I set the rule.

Not to say when I started my career, there is foul play! As long as you are beneficial to company and not caught by authority, you are perfectly ALRIGHT!

Worldly morale has gone too bad, more than I could ever imagine. Crimes, corruption, sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, etc.

Gos has chosen Jesus as the cornerstone. It is more than just a standard of living, but an abundant life. I am called to be His living stone in His house and not meant to be a stumbling stone which causes other to fall.

I admit I did caused some of my fellow friend "fell" to some extends. God is faithful and just, He is molding me, the incomplete and rough stone to His perfection. 

Lord, let me do this first

Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."

Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."

Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."

But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."      [Matt 8:19-22]

有一个文士来，对他说：“夫子，你无论往哪里去，我要跟从你。”

耶稣说：“狐狸有洞，天空的飞鸟有窝，人子却没有枕头的地方。”

又有一个门徒对耶稣说：“主啊，容我先回去埋葬我的父亲。”

耶稣说：“任凭死人埋葬他们的死人，你跟从我吧！”      [太 8:19-22]

 Man is highly dominant, born to be. Many things we like, wish, hope and urge to control. We are taught to plan even when we're in kindergarten. I still remember how I wish I can have a remote control to get everything within my "control".

"Lord, teach me to number my days". This is my prayer years ago.

I am and was same with the person from the bible that ask Jesus to allow him to bury his father FIRST, he is negotiating or bargaining to get his priority task done. 

In my life, I have so many things that seems and really crucial. It affects my living, hey, not only me... this include my family. Ya ya...

From pursuing my degree, to getting my life partner, plans after plans..."Lord, let me do this first...", "Bless my plan..., I'll...."

End is approaching and Jesus still calling "Follow me".

Every breath is a grace from God. 

Nowadays, I can google to get everything I wish to know... but I can't google the future. I do not know when will be my last breath.

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. [Ps 90:12]

求你指教我们怎样数算自己的日子，好叫我们得著智慧的心。 [诗 90:12]

Panorama in Rainforest Discovery Centre, Sepilok, Sandakan

As mentioned in previous post, I did some panorama and it was fun! Enjoy!

Rainforest Discovery Centre, Sepilok, Sandakan.

A nice trip to RDC, Sepilok, 14 miles away from Sandakan. It is a good place for birds shooting, but I am not prepared for birds yet.... just like to explore the beauty of the rainforest.
